Each year, the American Society for Nutrition (ASN) and the ASN Foundation come together to celebrate outstanding scientists, clinicians, and scholars whose dedication, groundbreaking research, and tireless educational efforts continually advance the fields of nutrition science and clinical practice. At NUTRITION 2026, the organization had the distinct privilege of recognizing this year’s exceptional award recipients, honoring their remarkable career achievements and their profound impact on human health.

The annual gathering serves as a cornerstone for the global nutrition community, providing a platform not only to share the latest scientific discoveries but also to pay tribute to the individuals who shape the discipline. Congratulations once again are extended to the newly inducted 2026 Distinguished Fellows of ASN (DFASN) and the 2026 Excellence in Nutrition Fellows of ASN (FASN). These prestigious designations reflect years of sustained excellence, leadership, and a steadfast commitment to creating a healthier future through nutrition research and application.

For those interested in learning more about the exceptional individuals who comprise this year’s class, the ASN has made comprehensive resources available online. Members of the community and the public can visit the official ASN Foundation portal to meet the 2026 honorees, discovering the diverse backgrounds and specific contributions that earned them this national and international recognition.

Additionally, the ASN has released a dedicated commemorative video highlighting the careers and contributions of the Class of 2026 Distinguished Fellows. This visual retrospective offers viewers an intimate look at the milestones, mentorship, and scientific breakthroughs that defined the honorees’ distinguished professional journeys. Alongside the video release, a curated gallery of photographs capturing the vibrant atmosphere of the live Awards Ceremony has been published, allowing attendees and supporters to relive the memorable moments of celebration, applause, and collegial fellowship.

Creating the Future of Nutrition

Beyond celebrating past achievements, events like NUTRITION 2026 underscore the ongoing mission of the ASN Foundation to foster growth and support the next generation of scientific leaders. The Foundation relies on the generosity of donors, partners, and the broader nutrition community to continue its vital work under the banner of "Creating the Future of Nutrition."

"Celebrating

Through targeted recognition programs, travel awards, research grants, and educational initiatives, the Foundation honors innovation, leadership, and tangible impact across the nutrition landscape. These programs ensure that promising students, early-career investigators, and established leaders alike receive the encouragement and resources necessary to tackle pressing global challenges in public health, dietary guidance, and metabolic science.

"Celebrating

The celebration at NUTRITION 2026 is part of a broader, continuous conversation happening within the pages of premier academic publications and research projects supported by the Society. Initiatives such as the BOND-KIDS (Biomarkers of Nutrition for Development: Knowledge Indicating Dietary Sufficiency) Project highlight the critical importance of understanding nutrition across childhood and adolescence. As experts continually point out, proper nutrition plays an indispensable role in children’s growth, cognitive development, learning capacity, and long-term health outcomes, making the work of ASN members more relevant than ever.

"Celebrating

Furthermore, the scientific community continues to explore evolving frontiers, from investigating complex dietary factors and their direct links to chronic disease—as highlighted in recent featured collections in The Journal of Nutrition—to integrating advanced technologies like artificial intelligence and machine learning into modern nutritional science. Editorial science fellows and leading researchers are continually publishing comprehensive collections that synthesize these emerging trends, ensuring that clinicians and researchers remain at the cutting edge of the field.

"Celebrating

As the academic year progresses and the nutrition community builds upon the momentum generated at NUTRITION 2026, the ASN and the ASN Foundation remain dedicated to supporting the individuals who drive discovery and clinical excellence. By honoring today’s luminaries and investing in tomorrow’s innovators, the Society continues to champion a world where nutritional science successfully guides policy, improves clinical care, and enhances the well-being of populations worldwide.
