The American Society for Nutrition (ASN) has officially announced that NUTRITION 2027, its flagship annual meeting, will convene the global nutrition science community from July 26 to July 29, 2027, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Moving beyond just a single upcoming conference on the calendar, the organization also revealed plans for NUTRITION 2028, which will take place in Boston from June 10 to June 13, 2028. This milestone gathering in Boston will serve as a centerpiece for ASN’s centennial celebration, returning to the very city where the inaugural NUTRITION meeting was held a decade earlier. By heading back to its roots, the Society aims to honor the enduring origins of the event while celebrating a full century of relentless advancement in nutrition science.

Since its inception, the annual NUTRITION meeting has firmly established itself as the premier gathering for the worldwide nutrition community. Each year, the event brings together a diverse spectrum of professionals, including dedicated scientists, clinical practitioners, public health experts, policymakers, and industry leaders who are actively shaping the future of nutritional health. The comprehensive conference routinely showcases the latest breakthroughs across a broad multidisciplinary field, encompassing clinical investigations, fundamental basic research, translational science, and wide-ranging population health studies.

As global health challenges continue to evolve, leadership within the organization emphasizes the growing importance of these collaborative spaces. Speaking on the vision for the upcoming conference, Keith West, DrPH, MPH, Incoming President of ASN, shared his perspective on the road ahead. "As we look ahead to NUTRITION 2027, we’re excited to bring the global nutrition community together in a convenient and accessible destination for attendees from across the field," West stated. He noted that scientific discovery in nutrition is rapidly expanding into new and compelling areas designed to address the unique complexities of modern times. Furthermore, as resources dedicated to nutrition support undergo ongoing adjustments, West stressed that it is more vital than ever for researchers, clinicians, policymakers, and leaders across diverse disciplines and continents to connect, collaborate, and share the latest advancements that will ultimately improve health outcomes throughout our world.

True to its long-standing legacy, NUTRITION 2027 will continue the Society’s proud tradition of delivering cutting-edge science alongside unmatched opportunities for continuous learning, professional networking, and institutional collaboration. The meticulously crafted program will feature a wide array of symposia, original research presentations, and interactive sessions tailored to the needs of attendees at every career level.

Choosing the location for such a major scientific gathering involves balancing accessibility with a dynamic atmosphere capable of inspiring cross-disciplinary dialogue. John Courtney, PhD, Chief Executive Officer of ASN, highlighted the strategic choice of the host city for the 2027 event. "Las Vegas provides a dynamic setting for NUTRITION 2027 as ASN convenes diverse perspectives and disciplines shaping the future of nutrition science," Courtney remarked. Looking slightly further ahead, he added, "As ASN approaches its centennial in 2028, NUTRITION 2027 will recognize the scientific achievements that have shaped the field while looking ahead to the next century of discovery, innovation, and impact."

The timeline leading up to the 2027 meeting will feature several key milestones for researchers and professionals wishing to contribute to the scientific program. Abstract submissions for NUTRITION 2027 are scheduled to open this coming fall, inviting investigators from around the globe to share their latest findings with peers. Simultaneously, the ASN Foundation will open its award nominations in September, initiating a comprehensive process to recognize outstanding scientific achievement across all career stages. Among the prestigious honors to be awarded are the designations for the ASN Class of 2027 Distinguished Fellows, which represents the Society’s highest individual honor, as well as the Excellence in Nutrition Fellows, which specifically recognizes established leaders who are making a profound impact at the absolute peak of their professional careers.

For the leadership team guiding the Society through this transitional and celebratory period, these upcoming annual gatherings carry deep symbolic and practical significance. Heather Eicher Miller, PhD, FASN, ASN’s Incoming Vice President and Chair of the ASN Centennial Taskforce, reflected on the broader journey of the organization. "The next two annual meetings represent more than destinations on a calendar. They mark an important moment in ASN’s journey," Eicher Miller observed. "As we celebrate our centennial in Boston, we’ll honor the remarkable achievements of the past 100 years while setting the course for new discoveries, partnerships, and leaders in nutrition science."
